What I Learned About Supply Chain Risk

  1. Inventory availability: Do they have stock of standard catalog items, or do they manufacture everything to order? The difference can be weeks.
  2. COA turnaround: How quickly can they provide the certificate? A delay here can bottleneck your entire quality release process.
  3. Contractual commitment: Will they put a delivery date in writing with consequences for missing it? Verbal promises are worth the paper they're written on—i.e., nothing.
